Three-Week Post-Op Update: Turning a Corner

Three Weeks Post-Op: Turning a Corner

Three weeks after my May-Thurner Syndrome surgery, I finally feel like I’ve turned a corner. The stent-related back and nerve pain that weighed me down early on has eased, and for the first time, I can move through daily life- caring for my kids, seeing clients, running errands-without crashing afterward.

I’m not fully back to my pre-surgery baseline yet, but I’m closer. My focus has shifted from chasing step counts and workouts to something more important: having the energy to live a normal day. That shift alone feels like a huge win.

This week brought milestones I’m deeply grateful for: walking pain-free, working nearly full capacity, and even camping with my family and dear friends without setbacks. Mentally, I’ve gone from questioning whether surgery made me worse to feeling hopeful about real, lasting improvement.

Healing isn’t linear, but three weeks in, I’m encouraged by the progress, grateful for the support around me, and excited to keep moving forward.

Reflections From the Low Point That Changed Everything

Two weeks post-op and I’ve hit a meaningful milestone: I’m back seeing clients again! After a challenging emotional low and some tough days of learning to truly listen to my body, I finally slowed down and gave myself permission to rest. That shift made all the difference.

Yesterday, I completed a full 90-minute massage session and even lifted my heavy massage table in and out of my car without increasing pain. I’m not back to baseline yet, but returning to work and regaining some normalcy has been a huge boost to my mental and physical healing.

This journey has reminded me healing isn’t about doing more, it’s about honoring what your body needs and embracing progress in whatever form it comes.

Feeling stuck in recovery? This post is for you!
